The Yellow Wallpaper Summary

Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the famous storyteller, has written this story. The story is about the boredom and fading up of the writer with the yellow wallpaper and in the end, manages to run away from the unbearable environment. The story has been described in a light manner and easy-go way. The tone of the writer while telling the account is humorous.
John is the physician who is the in-charge of the writer's illness. He is a practical sort of man to the extent. He has no patience with faith, an intense horror of superstition and scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt or seen. According to the writer, perhaps that was one reason she did not get well faster. She says, "If a Physician of high standing and one's own husband assures friends and relatives that there is really nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous depression - a slight hysterical tendency - what is one to do? So, I take phosphates or phosphates, whichever it is, and tonics and journeys and air and exercise and am absolutely forbidden to 'work' until I am well again. John says the very worst thing I can do is to think about my condition, and I confess it always makes me feel bad."
The writer wishes that she could get well faster. But that, the yellow wallpaper, looked to her as if it knew what a vicious influence it had upon her. The wallpaper had a kind of sub pattern in a different shade, a particularly irritating one.
The 4th July was over. The people were all gone and the writer was tired out, and was extremely fed up with the tight environment. John thought it might do her good to see a little company.'I don't feel it was a worthwhile to turn my head over for anything and I am getting dreadfully fretful and querulous', the writer says.
At the end, the writer peeled off all the paper she could reach standing on the floor. This was stuck horribly and the pattern was so rough. Anyhow, the writer managed to get rid of the damned paper and fled away after being jaded by the environment.
