Todays’ demanding lifestyle has led many families to pursuit having two incomes. This means that for many parents, taking their children to childcare centres has become a primary need. Even though obvious benefits can be observed from this activity, the drawbacks should not be ignored.
To begin with, several advantages can be found when enrolling children in such institutions. First of all, the trained staff can help infants develop their cognitive and motor skills much more effectively. An example of this, is the variety of activities available in these places such as singing, dancing, story-telling painting and others. Additionally, the faciities provided in these centres allow children to participate in different activities indoors and outdoors as most places have cubby houses, a variety of toys, musical instruments and even trampolines. Finally, being among other infants their age, will allow little children to develop social skills which unless they had siblings, or cousins would be impossible to gain.
Contrarily, negative aspects can also be observed. The first evident drawback, is the lack of bonding time parents and children will have. Recent studies reveal the importance of parents spending quality time with their children in order to make the little ones feel loved and appreciated which helps develop their personality. Another consequence is the loss of family traditions. If parents are unable to be present in their child’s life on a daily basis, it would be very difficult for them to teach their descendants values, customs and, in some cases, even their native language. Last but not least, the younger the children, the weaker their immune system is. This may leave them exposed to a variety of viruses and diseases infants typically pass on while in contact with other children.
To conclude, many families have been benefitted by having access to childcare centres which allows both parents to work. Nevertheless, disadvantages are also found when children are sent to these places.

Answer:
Travelling has become a common way to spend a vacation. Whether it is one’s own home country or overseas, everyone seems to enjoy going on a trip. Some are of the opinion that going abroad is better, but others argue that travelling around one’s own land of birth is more rewarding.
Firstly, a few reasons can be found to support travelling abroad. One reason is that it broadens people’s minds and creates more cultural awareness. This is because by seeing and experiencing other cultures, we can learn to appreciate our own as well as respect others. An example of this can be trying the typical food of a foreign country. It might be a good or bad experience, but in any case a lesson is learnt. In addition, every country has its own beauty, which means that by travelling to other countries we can see different landscapes which might not be found in our own land. I spite of the above mentioned reasons, it is also possible to see why so many people would rather stay in their own country. To begin with, by travelling around our home land, we can absorb the intrinsic culture we were born into. In this globalised world it has become more and more difficult to identify oneself with something. Traditions are important since they are what make us different from each other. Therefore, by learning more from our country we can develop a deeper sense of belonging.
To sum up, both ways of travelling offer advantages to people. In my opinion both are equally important and beneficial. On one hand, exploring other lands create more empathy toward other cultures, and staying at home helps us value our traditions ion a more meaningful way.

Answer:
Life in big cities has always been a popular trend. Migration from small towns to big urban areas has increased throughout the years in most countries. Nonetheless, some people claim that city life has become more of a hassle than a solution. I tend to agree with this statement, however I believe it is a personal choice and several factors need to be considered.
To start with, it is easy to agree with this view for several reasons. First of all, buying houses in big cities has become almost unaffordable for families. This has forced many people to rent for many years or to buy a house in the outer suburbs far form city centres. Moreover, it is fair to say that there are higher crime rates in metropolitan areas such as car theft, burglaries and more violent crimes. Finally, the fact that most big cities tend to have a higher density of population, more traffic jams, crowded systems of transportation, and long commuting time, can make life in the metropolis quite hectic.
On the other hand, it is untruthful to suggest that big cities offer no advantages. This is because metropolitan areas offer a variety of resources and facilities that would be very problematic to access in smaller towns. One of the main reasons people migrate to the big cities is to educate themselves. The reason for this is that rural areas usually do not have quality educational institutions, especially for tertiary education. The same could be said in regards to health facilities and jobs. The best hospitals and biggest companies are generally located in urban areas.
Overall, it is difficult to take a position with such a relevant topic. But it is my view, that even though living in big cities can be challenging for different reasons, it also provides opportunities that can’t be overlooked.

Answer:
Today some professional sports people are paid extraordinary amounts of money. There are also many professions which are only paid a fraction of what these sports people earn. Some people believe that sports professionals are overpaid when compared with other occupations, namely teaching. In my opinion, I disagree with this belief for two key reasons.
Firstly, the working conditions of a professional sport person are significantly different to more conventional professions. Even though sports people generally lead glamorous life styles, their day to day routines are much more gruelling. They are often away from their families for days and weeks at a time and they must also follow strict health guidelines set by their teams. As an example, a tennis player like Rodger Federer trains seven days a week and lives mostly out of hotel rooms, and often only sees his family every few days.
In addition, the career of a professional sports player is generally much shorter than other professions. The sports industry can be brutal in that players are paid based on being very good at what they do, but the peak of most players career only lasts for a few years. This means that players are often delisted from their team and then left with nothing, specifically if they have an injury or get too old. Mathew Bode was a professional football player in Australia who played only 4 years before an injury forced him to retire.
In summary, due to the highly pressured working conditions and generally short careers of sports professionals, I believe they are not overpaid. They do earn significantly more than professions such as teaching, however they deserve higher salaries because of the instability of their careers and lifestyles.

Answer:
It would be fair to say that a majority of people around the world has access to a television nowadays. Watching TV has become one of the most common past-times and despite the fact that a variety of shows is now available, it is true that there has been an upward trend toward violent content shown on TV shows. A range of reasons can explain this phenomenon and some suggestions can be offered in order to limit its impacts.
It is clear to see why TV content has become more violent with time. The main reason is due the fundamental purpose of television, which is to make money. Unfortunately, violence sells and TV and movie producers know this too well. Therefore they make shows that will captivate the biggest audiences, thus the popularity of current shows that have to do with wars, gangsters or criminals. Another explanation can be the lack of censorship which lately has become more tolerant to these types of shows. An illustration of this is that for most movies the maximum censorship is 15 years and older which does not seem to be stern enough for some shows.

It is evident that continuous exposure to this kind of content may have some negative consequences which makes it important to take some measures in order to reduce these effects. The first aspect to consider is to educate the population to inform them of the results that derive from being exposed to violent scenes. Studies have shown that in young, more impressionable people, the exposure to violence may create reckless behaviour, and in more mature adults it might develop sleeping disorders among other problems. Additionally, another possible measure could be to toughen the policies that regulate censorship on television. This would help to prevent youngsters from having access to extremely violent shows which might subsequently lead them to act violently.
To sum up, two main causes can be found regarding the increased violent content on TV these days. Profit and lenient regulations that control television can be mentioned. However, informing people together with creating stricter policies, may in turn reduce the negative results of this popular trend.

Answer:
Family is usually considered the nucleus of society. Even in ancient times and throughout evolution, records have been found of family relationships regardless of the place of origin or epoch. Personally, I share the view that family members are the most important people in our lives but there are other people we meet along the way, who can become as important.
On the one hand, obvious reasons can explain why our families take such a big part in our lives. Firstly, there is the concept of unconditional love. For most people, family, is a synonym of safety, support and nurture. Our parents and grandparents try their best to provide us with the best they can afford and make it their mission to help us become good human beings. Moreover, our family, whoever that is, becomes our first role model. Our values, traditions and habits come from home, so whatever we are, in a way, we owe it to our families.
On the other hand, in life we encounter other important people we choose to spend time with. First of all, our friends. Whether classmates, neighbours or family friends, these are the people we find and become close to because we share interests with or just enjoy having them around. In the cases of people whose family is not close due to geographical position or other reasons, friends sometimes become even more important than family. We can also mention teachers or others we meet throughout our lives who for some reason have inspired or influenced us.
In sum, even though our family is our first and foremost source of love and safety, friends and other people can also play a relevant role in our lives which is why we choose to have them close to us.
